Parking Lot to Open

The ribbon will be cut on the Shenandoah Public Library’s new parking lot on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008 at 4:30 p.m, and the lot will be open to the public on Thursday morning. The land was a generous donation from Dr. Eugene and Linda Lloyd and his son, Thomas, and his family. The development of the lot was from a special bond issued by the City. The landscaping plan is developed and will be implemented next spring.

Library Director, Jan Frank-de Ois, said, “I’m so eager about the availability of parking spaces for our members.” She continued, “Absolutely from the very first day I was on the job, the lack of parking spaces has been an issue. The three to four we have in front do not meet the state standards for accreditation.” There will be two handicapped parking slots nearest the Library and another thirty available. Finding a place to park for Books Sandwiched In and summer reading programs days should be a lot simpler!
