Summer Reading Program - June 1!

Hold onto your paintbrushes, folks! It's time for the Summer Reading Program. Sign up starts June 1 for both kids and teens. The theme for the kids this year (pre-school through going-into-grade-6) is Be Creative @ Your Library. Teens (going into grades 7-12) can sign up for PictionaRead to earn points and win prizes. For all the details about the Summer Reading Programs and the other special events we have planned this summer, check out the children's page or the teen page. More great new stuff just arrived on the Shenandoah Public Library website! This time we've got online streaming audiobooks for teens. Check out our TumbleReadables from the homepage, teen page, downloadable content page or the teen links page or just click here. Once you're there, you can listen to your favorite Orca Soundings books or classics - many even have text so you can read along! Events for Grown-ups

The summer reading program for our younger patrons is almost here. However, before the kids get out of school, we've got two great events for our adult patrons scheduled this Thursday. First up is Books Sandwiched In at noon, where you can bring your lunch and listen to a review of The Soloist by Steve Lopez - the book that inspired the recent film of the same name. I highly recommend both the book and the event. At 1 pm, right after BSI, we invite you to stay for this month's Must-See Movie, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre starring Humphrey Bogart, on our big screen. We'll bring the popcorn! We hope to see you at one or both of these great programs.
